The village of Skala is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away (taxis can
be booked!) If you are planning to walk back after dark it is advisable to
carry a torch (available to purchase at the bar)
Some of the
facilities/services you may find useful are: Supermarkets-
these are plentiful and you can buy English newspapers at George's Ionian
supermarket and Solomos supermarket near the bottom of
the main street and also at the new supermarket just down the road from the
hotel.
The Kiosk- This is located half way up the main street
just after the church and is the only place in the village where you can buy cigarettes apart from the supermarket near the hotel.
It also sells stamps and there is a yellow post box there.
Taxis-
Taxis generally wait by the beach at the bottom of the steps from the village but the number is limited so you may have
to wait a while.
The Bakery- There are now two great bakeries half way up the main
street on the left or treat yourself to a slice of delicious cake from the new cake shop 5 minutes walk away from the hotel.You can also order your birthday cakes here.
The nearest pharmacy is located in Scala near the remains of the Roman Villa. Scala has more than one own doctor-please ask us if you need medical assistance
.
Dentist- the nearest dentist is located
in Poros.
Your nearest Bank is also in Poros and there are two cash
machines in Skala although these are not always reliable. Travellers Cheques can
be cashed in various places in Skala.
Photographs from different
cameras can be developed in Skala at the new shop above the kiosk on the main street.
Buses depart from the village square at the bottom of the main street
for Argostoli.The Poros bus can be flagged down outside the hotel.
